ILCHV is a peer run organization. Over one-half of the board of directors and most of the staff are people with disabilities, who use both their professional education and personal experiences to advocate for equal rights and full access.
Peer advocates are available to advise consumers about their legal, economic and educational rights and assists them in securing them. Peers are both advocates and teachers. Peers educate so that in the future consumers can become their own best advocates.
If you are interested in learning more about your rights, call ILCHV and speak to Karen Garofallou, Director of Programs and Services at (518) 274-0701.
