Some people with disabilities want to work but are not sure how to start finding a job. ILCHV can assist. We work closely with the Commission for the Blind (state rehabilitation agency serving people who are blind or visually impaired) and ACCES-VR (state rehabilitation agency serving people with disabilities who are not blind nor visually impaired), including educating consumers about the services available, assisting them in applying for services, and helping them manage their benefits as they become employed. Staff can also help with finding a job including teaching people how to job search, write a resume, and disclose a disability to a potential employer. Staff also conduct mock interviews and are available for support and problem solving once an individual becomes employed.
If you are interested in exploring the world of work, call ILCHV and speak to Karen Garofallou, Director of Programs and Services.
