THE INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTER OF THE HUDSON VALLEY, Inc. (ILCHV), is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization. ILCHV is an independent living center providing services to a wide range of populations. Its principal offices are located in the City of Troy, New York, USA. The City of Troy is the "birthplace" of Uncle Sam. The Center has two locations in the Hudson Valley: the City of Troy and in the City of Hudson.
The Center serves a five county area covering some of New York State's most scenic, and historic areas. The Center's geographic area starts from the Capital District region, across the Hudson River from the State Capital of Albany, into the County of Rensselaer, through the Hudson River Valley to Columbia County.The Hudson Valley is one of American's most historic regions. It has been the home of many great Americans: artists, writers, scientists, our country's leaders. This is the birthplace of Franklin Delano Roosevelt; the setting for Washington Irving's "Legend of Sleepy Hollow;" the home of painter Frederic Church, and many, many others. This site provides extensive information for tourists and visitors to the Capital District, and the upper Hudson Valley.
This web site also provides information on regional as well as State-wide resources for independent living.
ILCHV is a member of the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL), and the NYS Association of Independent Living or NYAIL. This center is run by people with disabilities for people with disabilities.
